Cosmetic tattooing of the lips has become extremely popular in the past few years. It accentuates the contour and color of ones lips. I offer two different techniques as services here at Brow Designs by Julia. Lip blushing, which gives a more defined look and can enhance your natural color or lip staining for those who prefer a more dramatic lipstick look. Few people have perfectly symmetrical lips and so lip blushing or lip staining can also help camouflage these slight imperfections. It can also cover small scars in most cases. I have a wide selection of colors to choose from depending on the end result you desire. Lip blushing aims to give subtle splash of color, with matt natural tones that create definition. Lip staining is a more deeper color selection that will create the look of lipstick. I start by mapping the lips using makeup and outlining the natural border. After I get the clients approval on the shape, I will then use a local anesthetic to numb the lips and minimize discomfort. Color selection comes next according to the look we want to achieve. The pigment will then be deposited into the skin with a very fine needle via a cosmetic tattoo device. Lip blush/staining procedures take longer than most other treatments as they are more prone to swelling. If this occurs it will usually disappear in three to five days. The procedure itself will take approximately two and a half hours to three hours.The intensity of color will be stronger than anticipated at first but will fade after three to five days. I do require a touch up and this appointment will be scheduled six to eight weeks after the initial appointment.
